Tuesday 30th August 11

A lovely long lie-in!

I've been a bit behind in writing a full blog post every day and I genuinely cannot remember what happened today, but suffice to say, I relaxed... but probably did assorted housework, bits and bobs in the garden, some fruit drying, that sort of thing.I know that after the long weekend I had a backlog of emails to deal with.

So, I got through the day just fine.

Tuesday 24th May 11

Woke fairly late and didn't get gong very quickly. However, did do a load of washing up and sorted out the big pile of dried fruit which has built up.  I need to do a 'red pepper paprika' make soon, as I've got several jars full of dried sweet red pepper slices, which I'll render into dust in the liquidiser and knock through a fine sieve, the bigger lumps are good for stews and the powder is lovely for soup.

I jarred up 2 big jars of apples and one of pineapple.  I chopped up 3 pineapples out of 8 which were thrown away and came my way.  I peeled some banana and orange leather off it's plastic bag backing in a baking tray and made a load of little balls out of this, as it's very sticky and I think it'll dry better in spheres. They are now drying on a plate on the drying rack.

Later I potted up two tomato plants, ones from Country Fresh, and put them into their final large planters.  I also potted up the cucumber plant, and some climbing beans.  I did a little bit of composting work, and earthed up the potatoes..

Gill wasn't feeling brilliant so I went to the Co-op for her and got some bits and pieces. Later in the evening I liquidised some bananas and added them to the remaining reduced orange juice and put the resultant slop to dry.

So a fairly non-eventful day.

Monday 12th April 10

A pretty non-eventful day in many ways... up not too early, and a slow start with my usual bowl of home-made muesli on top of 'brain flakes' (the secret of my intelligence!) and a bit of time with the laptop.

And the outside was calling so I got busy in the garden, more shredding (I took the shredder down the garden to reduce the time to-ing and fro-ing) and I did a huge load of brambles, hedge and pruned-out other bits.

I bagged up some more riddled compost and started re-filling the New Zealand bin that I dug out over the past couple of days. Oh, and the usual round of washing up, emptying the ash from the stove and that kind of housework.

I had no visitors and didn't go anywhere. Gill got a family day rover bus ticket and took our youngest to the trampolines in Coppergate, came home and took our eldest to town to get a new book, as he goes through them so quickly. Gill also got a game of Monopoly as an extra thing to help pass the time, and the boys played that until quite late.

So for me, quite an uneventful day, despite being productive and the garden looking a lot less woolly afterwards.

Friday 26th February 10

A much better day, health-wise, but it started with lots of shouting and banging but as soon as the children went to school, this stopped. Amazing!

I had a quiet day...got some photos in the post to scan in for the new website, and did some fruit drying, washing up, various other domestic stuff. It was raining so I didn't feel like going outside. By the time I was bored of being inside, it was snowing and bitterly cold, but I did manage to snatch an hour down the garden just before dark.

This is the third day in a row that I haven't ridden my bike. Unheard of, unless on holiday.

So, another quiet day. Perhaps something more exciting tomorrow?
